Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs detailed maintenance and repairs on equipment ranging from heavy duty tractors and trucks to vehicles and mowers in accordance with standard trade practices;
- Performs unscheduled repairs such as troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems and replacing or repairing of essential parts in shop or at work site and occasionally after hours;
- Performs maintenance and repairs of damaged and malfunctioning equipment;
- Performs preventative maintenance including changing/adding fluids, inspecting brakes and belts, replacing filters, inspecting suspension, steering systems lights, and tires, etc.
- Analyzes and locates defects in operation and road tests equipment before returning to service;
- Maintains current shop manuals to determine type and specifications of parts needed;
- Maintains inventory and records, requisitions parts and supplies and prepares inventory reports;
- Keeps tools and equipment in clean operating condition;
- Repairs and maintains alternative fuel systems, including propane-powered equipment;
- Maintains parts procurement; research part numbers, vehicle application, serial number; searches for parts, finds best prices, and searches for vendors, dealers, etc.;
- Purchases and picks up parts;
- Fills out transmittals for payments made with credit card and any other documentation necessary for the division;
- Performs off-site service or repairs for disabled or non-transportable vehicles or equipment;
- Ensures proper performance during daily operations or emergency repairs;
- Prepares and manages work orders;
- Performs related work as required.
