About the role

The Vehicle Graphics Installation Technician is responsible for installing vinyl graphics, decals, striping, and wraps on Police, Fire, Military, EMS, and other emergency response vehicles. This position requires precision, craftsmanship, and the ability to work with a variety of vehicle surfaces and graphic materials to ensure a professional, durable, and high-quality finished product.

Responsibilities

  • Install vinyl graphics, decals, reflective striping, lettering, and partial or full wraps on Police, Fire, EMS, Military, and fleet vehicles.
  • Prepare vehicle surfaces by cleaning, measuring, masking, and positioning graphic materials for installation.
  • Read and interpret layout instructions, design proofs, and work orders.
  • Apply graphics accurately using proper tools and techniques to prevent bubbles, wrinkles, lifting, or misalignment.
  • Trim and finish graphics cleanly around doors, handles, lights, trim, and other vehicle features.
  • Remove and replace old graphics or decals as needed.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to customer and department specifications.
  • Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in clean and organized conditions.
  • Communicate with supervisors, designers, and production staff regarding job status or installation issues.
  • Follow company safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Aid with shop production, material handling, and prep work as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience installing vehicle graphics, vinyl decals, wraps, signage, or related graphic applications.
  • Ability to measure accurately and work with precision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to use hand tools, squeegees, knives, heat guns, and related installation tools safely.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift fifty pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in vehicle wrap installation, fleet graphics, or sign production.
  • Experience with emergency vehicle graphics, reflective materials, and public safety markings.
  • Familiarity with vinyl plotting, laminating, weeding, and print shop processes.
  • Experience working on cars, SUVs, trucks, fire apparatus, ambulances, or specialty vehicles.

Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in vinyl application and graphic installation techniques.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
  • Good problem-solving skills when fitting graphics to complex vehicle surfaces.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a production shop, garage, or installation bay.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working around vehicles.
  • May involve exposure to adhesives, cleaning chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.
  • Lift and carry materials and tools up to fifty pounds.
  • Perform detailed hand work for extended periods.
