Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician I (61036059) **RE-ADVERTISEMENT**

Job Responsibilities

• Aid Vehicle/Equipment Repair Tech II in performing vehicle repairs on state equipment SCDOT Key Series 001 through 011.
• Troubleshoot vehicle electrical issues on state equipment SCDOT Key Series 001 through 011.
• Perform light brake repairs on state equipment SCDOT Key Series 001 through 011.
• Execute vehicle preventive maintenance service (level III) on state equipment SCDOT Key Series 001 through 011.
• Install and repair inclement weather equipment (e.g., snow plows, sand/salt spreaders).
• Answer service calls in the field for tractor mowers, dump trucks, and equipment.
• Check fuel, water, and lubricating oil levels to ensure proper servicing of all engines and equipment.
• Perform small engine repairs (simple or medium complexity) on state equipment.
• Ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous waste and materials in accordance with DHEC regulations.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and perform duties in a large garage setting, occasionally working outside of normal hours.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

• Six (6) months of directly-related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Completion of one (1) academic year of a South Carolina High School Automotive Technology or Diesel Engine curriculum may substitute for six (6) months of directly-related experience.

Necessary Special Requirements

• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Must attain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirements

• Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping, and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent exposure to outside environments in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease.
