About the Role

As a driver for North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Transportation & Parking, you will operate multiple routes based on student demand within the NCCU network. The position involves driving over‑the‑road buses, shuttles, vans, and utility vehicles for various events and activities while providing campus‑wide knowledge to answer student, faculty, and staff questions.

Responsibilities

• Operate buses, shuttles, vans, and utility vehicles on multiple routes and for special events.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety.
• Promote positive passenger relations by acting in a considerate and courteous manner.
• Attend and successfully complete required training courses.
• Use various equipment that requires a moderate degree of dexterity.
• Assist customers with mobility impairments, including pushing wheelchairs and lifting light or heavy objects.

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver’s license appropriate for the vehicles operated.
• Ability to safely operate over‑the‑road buses, shuttles, vans, and utility vehicles.
• Capability to conduct thorough vehicle inspections.
• Strong customer‑service skills with a courteous demeanor.
• Physical ability to use equipment requiring moderate dexterity and to assist with mobility‑impairment needs.
• Willingness to attend and complete training programs.
