About Us

We are dedicated to revolutionizing the freight industry by liberating tons of freight from congested highways, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing transportation efficiency. We deploy self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles to transform freight logistics and bring innovation to our rail network. Based in St. Louis, MO, we promote industrial revitalization, save lives, and minimize the environmental impact of trucking/transportation. Our work environment is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive, fostering great opportunities for professional growth.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Electrician to execute the electrical assembly and wiring of new self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles in our St. Louis facility. The center of gravity for this role is in-shop fabrication—building complex wire harnesses, installing electrical controllers, battery systems, and electric motor systems—with occasional field service support of fielded vehicles at customer sites as a secondary duty. You'll work as a hands-on, mid-level technician on the shop floor within our Engineering/Manufacturing organization. This is a full-time, 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO. You'll work within a team of 3–10 engineers and technicians and engage in occasional domestic travel (roughly 10%) for field service, testing, and customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wire Harness Assembly: Construct and test complex wire harness assemblies from wire run lists, system schematics, and published BOMs.
  • Fabrication & Assembly: Execute the electrical assembly and wiring of large-scale self-propelled rail vehicles, including the installation of electrical controllers, battery systems, and electric motor systems.
  • Panel Build: Assemble backplanes per mechanical drawings and wire per electrical schematics.
  • Testing & Validation: Support the testing and validation of system performance, ensuring all hardware meets rigorous industrial safety and performance standards.
  • System Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot high-voltage and low-voltage electrical issues during build and bring-up.
  • Field Service Support: Provide occasional on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fielded vehicles at customer sites.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and production teams to provide feedback on manufacturability and system performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, service actions, and system modifications.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly pay: $26–$32 per hour (full-time, non-exempt)

  • Intramotev offers a comprehensive benefits package for all team members, including:
  • Medical coverage: We cover 100% of employee medical premiums, plus low-cost dental and vision options.
  • Vacation: Hourly employees accrue paid time off and receive paid company holidays.
  • Parental leave: New parents receive paid time off to spend quality time with their family.

About You

  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • 3+ years of experience working on large-scale electrical systems for vehicles (e.g., trucks, construction equipment, rail) or heavy industrial equipment (e.g., presses, assembly lines).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience with fabrication tools, shop equipment, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and take on tasks beyond your immediate area of expertise.
  • Open-minded and comfortable working as a hands-on individual contributor in a small-team shop environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically on occasion (roughly 10%) for field service support.
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.
  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).
  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or more of the areas listed below— we don't expect any single candidate to bring both rail and EV backgrounds:
  • Experience with Electric Vehicle (EV) powertrains or high-voltage battery management systems (BMS)— our railcars are battery-electric vehicles, so EV experience translates directly even without rail time.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as CAN bus.
  • Technical degree or certification in Electrical Systems, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.

Typical Education And Experience

Education and experience are typically acquired through technical education and 3 or more years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Relocation

This position offers a competitive relocation package based on candidate eligibility.
