Job Description
Creston Games is an independent game studio looking for a 3D Vehicle Artist to join our team. This is a revenue share position, compensation will be based on revenue sharing, rather than an upfront salary.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, stylized and optimized 3D vehicles from conceptual stages to final production-ready assets.
- Structure vehicle models with proper hierarchy, pivots, and separation for mechanical parts (e.g. doors, wheels) to ensure they are ready for rigging and animation.
- Work with Technical Artists and Level Designers to ensure vehicles meet technical budgets, collision standards, and performance limits within Unity.
- Deliver LODs and optimize assets to run smoothly within Unity for a stable real-time co-op experience.
Qualifications
- A strong portfolio as a 3D Vehicle or Hard-Surface Artist featuring work from independent projects or released titles, showcasing expertise in modeling urban vehicles or machinery in a stylized style.
- Deep proficiency in 3D modeling software (Blender, Maya, or Max) and baking workflows.
- A strong understanding of stylized realism and PBR workflows.
- A good eye for proportions, shape language, and translating real-world cars into a stylized realism aesthetic.
- A solid understanding of asset implementation, naming conventions, and exporting workflows into Unity.
- Nice to have: Experience with modular asset systems or vehicle customization/upgrade components, basic understanding of how vehicle physics or rigging works in Unity.
