About the Role
The IT Project Manager II and Scrum Master will lead and facilitate 2-3 Agile teams, ensuring the effective implementation of Scrum and Kanban principles. The successful candidate must be a Certified Scrum Master and possess strong negotiation, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Servant Leader and facilitator for 2-3 Agile teams
- Enforce Scrum rules and remove impediments
- Promote self-management and continuous improvement
- Liaison & Communication: Serve as a bridge between technical and non-technical departments
- Coach the team on best practices (backlog maintenance, user stories, estimation, delivery)
- Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings
- Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress
- Maintain process documentation
- Aid in backlog maintenance and reviewing quality of user stories
- Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
- Aid in prioritizing and resolving defects / bugs
- Participate in developing and maintaining team agreements, standards, and tools
- Develop and manage team performance metrics
- Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions
- Facilitate discussions and conflict resolution
- Empower the team to self-organize
Requirements
- Formal Education & Certification: Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, and/or 10 years equivalent work experience. Must be a Certified Scrum Master, Scaled Agile (SAFe) experience and certification is a plus.
- Knowledge & Experience: Scrum Master or Business Analyst experience is preferred. Understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures. Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle. Understanding of organization's development platform and languages. Ability to understand technical issues.
- Personal Attributes: Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated. Team-player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types. Ability to coach the team to reach their highest potential. Creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems. Collaborative in driving decisions. Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
