About the role
The IT Project Manager II will operate as a Servant Leader and facilitator for 2-3 Agile teams, ensuring the effective implementation of Scrum and Kanban principles. The successful candidate will be a strong negotiator with excellent logic and problem-solving skills, and a drive to make a difference. This individual will put the team before themselves, enforcing Scrum rules, removing impediments, promoting self-management, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical departments.
- Communicate with management, developers, product owners, and technical support specialists on product issues.
- Coach the team on best practices (maintaining a healthy backlog, developing high-quality user stories, estimating, and delivery).
- Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings.
- Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress.
- Maintain process documentation.
- Ensure the team practices core Agile principles: collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
- Assist with backlog maintenance and reviewing the quality of user stories.
- Improve transparency and radiate information through internal and external communication.
- Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs.
- Proactively develop and maintain team working agreements, standards, and tools.
- Develop and manage team performance metrics to drive process efficiencies.
- Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions.
- Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution.
- Empower the team to self-organize.
Requirements
- Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.
- Certified Scrum Master; Scaled Agile (SAFe) experience and certification is a plus.
- Scrum Master or Business Analyst experience is preferred.
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Understanding of organization's development platform and languages.
- Ability to understand technical issues.
