About the Role
We are migrating the Virginia Vital Events and Screening Tracking System (VVESTS) from an outdated PL/SQL Web toolkit application running on Mod PL/SQL gateway to Oracle APEX. VVESTS handles highly sensitive data (PII and PHI), so web application security and strict compliance with HIPAA regulations are critical. The system hosts applications such as Virginia’s Birth Registry, Death Registry (EDRS), and Screening Registry, and interfaces with multiple state agencies (LVA, DSS, DMV, DCLS) and federal agencies (SSA, CDC, NCHS, NAPHSIS). It also exchanges data with the Virginia Immunization Information System (VIIS).
Responsibilities
- Migrate PL/SQL Web toolkit modules or pages to Oracle APEX.
- Modernize data for vital statistics and vital records-related projects.
- Ensure web application security and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize the latest web technologies, JavaScript/jQuery frameworks, templates, and CSS styles to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
Requirements
- Oracle 11g/18c/19c database experience.
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or jQuery.
- Experience with Oracle APEX.
- Familiarity with Oracle PL/SQL web toolkit.
- Experience with RESTful and SOAP web services.
