VDC Specialist (Spooler)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with VDC Specialists on the creation of detailed fabrication and installation drawings for Mechanical and Plumbing systems
  • Create fabrication spool drawings for the prefabrication of pipe systems
  • Create fabrication spool drawing map to identify installation location of prefabricated pipe spools
  • Annotate fabrication spool map drawings
  • Annotate fabrication and installation shop drawings
  • Create bill of materials
  • Create pipe cut lists
  • Create pipe identification labels
  • Work with other team members to complete models and drawings as required
  • Assist fabrication shop with kitting and carting for efficient job site delivery
  • Perform QA/QC review of work personally produced prior to issue to other teams
  • Assist in QA/QC review of work produced by other spoolers within the team
  • Communicate with VDC Specialists to ensure that fabrication intent is clearly communicated on fabrication spool drawings
  • Maintain training and continued education for incumbent and team to continually improve accuracy and productivity
  • Provide Input to management regarding both hardware and software requirements to perform duties
  • Supervisory /Budgetary / External communications responsibility

Prior Work Experience And Educational Requirements

  • Knowledge of experience with installation of mechanical or plumbing systems
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication CADMEP, Autodesk Navisworks or any other BIM software is a plus
  • A working familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, and Outlook and ability to be trained in use of the Company-specific applications and software
