The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Engineer will work in Austin’s Construction Technology Department assisting office and field staff with the implementation of BIM/ VDC processes and services. We are looking for a self-starter ready to embrace the technological challenges presented by our projects. Responsibilities Functions as the BIM/VDC “Model Administrator” on assigned projectsImplements Austin Commercial BIM/VDC processes on assigned projectsSpends time at the jobsite implementing BIM/VDC field construction processes on assigned projectsSupports BIM/VDC project staff training on assigned projectsMarkets BIM/VDC services internally and externallyPresents BIM/VDC projects and services at industry related conferences and forumsStays current on what is being marketed/executed by our competition locallyCreates models, including site logistics, structure, interior/exterior architecture, and MEP/FP systems as neededValidates model quality and accuracyPerforms model revisions and manages model distributionCreates custom model components and families as neededCreates, revises, and maintains 4D schedulesDevelops and maintains BIM/VDC coordination schedules on assigned projectsManages and distributes BIM/VDC coordination files on assigned projectsLeads and/or Manages the BIM/VDC coordination effort, identifying areas of conflict and leads conflict resolutionTracks and reports on BIM/VDC coordination progress and efficiencyCreates and distributes coordination meeting minutesAssists in BIM/VDC shop and field use drawing production and reviewCreates dimensioned drawings from the model for field use as neededSupports BIM/VDC layout on projects and assists in field as-built verificationValidates model accuracy for model-based quantity takeoffCreates model-based quantity surveys for estimate verificationModels components as needed for accurate quantity takeoffAbility to support an FM implementation strategy based on the Owner’s needs and future goalsSupports the training of the Owner’s FM staff on implementation of FM software and workflows as required Requirements Bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, or related AEC fields3+ years’ experience implementing BIM/VDC services & processes on construction projectsIntermediate-Advanced understanding of Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Navisworks ManageExposure to the following BIM software considered a bonus; Assemble, Synchro 4D,Exposure to the following scheduling software considered a bonus; Primavera P6, Microsoft ProjectApplicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
