VDC Engineer

About the role
We are seeking an experienced VDC Engineer to join our New York City office in lower Manhattan. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in building information modeling across multiple disciplines and software platforms, with a focus on delivering high-quality 3D models for complex infrastructure and building projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D BIM models for architectural, structural, MEP, and utility/site infrastructure
- Oversee project model setup and management throughout the project lifecycle
- Apply advanced knowledge to setup projects to support linked files, coordinate systems, and multi-phase workflows
- Apply industry standards, BIM execution strategies, and best practices appropriate to diverse project types and client requirements
- Read and understand contract documents, design documents, project reports, and scopes of work to successfully manage project deliverables
- Maintain model accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project standards and protocols
- Perform Clash Detection and conduct 3D trade coordination meetings; support management of trade contractor drafters
- Lead QA/QC processes and manage BIM deliverables using point clouds, contract drawings, shop drawings, and as-builts as references
- Support reality capture services (LiDAR, SLAM, etc.) and assist in Scan-to-BIM workflows including LiDAR scanning and point cloud processing
- Produce renderings, visualizations, and 4D simulations as needed
- Support site visits and field verification as needed
- Troubleshoot BIM software and platform issues and stay current with emerging tools and technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an AEC-related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working as a BIM/VDC Professional
- Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and professionally to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules
- Proficiency in Autodesk products such as Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and ACC Model Coordination
- Strong Revit Modeling experience is required
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive to job sites and client/field offices in and around NYC areas
- Must be authorized to work in the USA; Visa sponsorship is not available
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Public Sector clients/projects
- Experience working on Infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of Bentley Microstation, Projectwise, OpenBuildings, OpenRoads, or related tools
- Experience with software development using Revit APIs, Python, and Dynamo
- Knowledge of construction methods and processes
- Experience performing and utilizing 3D laser scans on projects
Pay
Compensation range: $80,000 – $120,000. Exact compensation will be determined based on the individual candidate’s qualifications and location.
