VDC Engineer
About the Role
This job opportunity is available at any location in the United States, with a preference for candidates near a Jacobs U.S.-based office. The role is site-based with a flexible home office location in the U.S. You will lead Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) efforts in the Advanced Manufacturing sector, managing and optimizing digital delivery processes for projects in electric vehicle, data center, consumer goods, metals, pulp and paper, and other markets.
Responsibilities
- Provide VDC/BIM/Digital Delivery management and leadership, aligning technologies with internal and client goals.
- Define digital delivery scope for project estimates and coordinate project technical setup and model deliverables.
- Create and implement Design and Construction BIM Execution Plans for EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management).
- Integrate VDC tasks including 3D logistics and safety planning, 4D scheduling, 5D cost and quantity take-offs.
- Define, coordinate, administer, and manage the Common Data Environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud) from design to construction, including Docs, Build, and Coordination modules.
- Kick-off, manage, and track progress on Clash Detection for Design Teams and Trade Partners; lead clash resolution meetings.
- Serve as BIM Subject Matter Expert on projects in design and construction.
- Coordinate laser scan data integration and facilitate Scan to BIM efforts.
- Manage model redline and as-built processes; verify construction install with model-based practices.
- Create project processes and lead mobile device trainings for field employees.
- Lead and facilitate reality capture for progress reporting and weekly reports for remote team members, including 360 Photos, laser scans, and drone data.
- Act as technology lead, providing in-field technical troubleshooting and support for software, model viewing, and mobile device applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders as the Digital Delivery and VDC lead on Design and Construction projects.
- Consult during business development for proposals and estimates; collaborate with clients, representatives, and contractors.
- Manage trade partner modeling efforts and quality through construction.
- Support team development by creating training materials and offering technical guidance.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor employees; enhance team expertise through collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Provide daily on-site presence and leadership; coordinate VDC activities with field operations.
- Create, execute, and own on-site VDC processes.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in VDC/BIM roles within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of BIM technologies and their application in manufacturing environments in Design and Construction.
- Proficiency in BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, Revizto) and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Experience with laser scanning and point cloud data management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record of on-site leadership of VDC activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment on a project site and virtually.
- Experience in developing and implementing BIM execution plans.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and MEP systems.
- Willingness to work on-site at a project near Corpus Christi, TX.
Qualifications
Ideally, you’ll also have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $111,100.00 to $145,725.00. Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
