Job Description
Prepares and positions patients appropriately for vascular studies. Sets-up, operates and maintains related diagnostic equipment.
Job Responsibility
- Determines necessary anatomical positioning of patients in accordance with departmental policy.
- Operates ultrasonic diagnostic equipment to examine various parts of the body (i.e. upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex, ABI/pvr, carotid duplex, trans-cranial duplex/Doppler, visceral vascular, graft surveillance, vein mapping, EVAR/abdominal aortic duplex, etc.).
- Measures and calculates pressures and pulse on peripheral arteries and veins throughout body (carotid, aorta, femoral, popliteal, saphenous).
- Notifies physician to review and ascertain whether further examination is required.
- Prepares and transmits reports and maintains examination records.
- Maintains equipment in proper working order, makes minor adjustments, and requests repair service, as required.
- Performs related duties as required.
Job Qualification
- Graduate of an accredited medical sonography program, required.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), required.
- Minimum of one (1) year sonography experience in hospital setting, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Minimum of one (1) year of Vascular Ultrasound experience, REQUIRED.
- Proficiency Venous in Venous Insufficiency exam, REQUIRED.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
