About the role

Responsible for performing all assigned diagnostic ultrasound exams in a timely manner, including procedures according to physician’s orders or per prescription on outpatients. As a member of the care team, you will work collaboratively to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care. Under the direction of the Laboratory, you will also assume responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Identify upper/lower extremity venous anatomy and collateral venous pathways in the presence of disease.
• Perform upper/lower extremity Venous Duplex protocol for DVT.
• Identify extracranial and intracranial anatomy; perform Carotid Duplex exam protocol.
• Identify upper/lower extremity arterial anatomy; perform protocol for upper/lower extremity arterial flow exam.
• Operate complex measurement and Doppler programs.
• Consistently produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric.
• Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organize and prioritize workflow to meet STAT and urgent demands.
• Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute, and challenging patients; modify positioning and scanning factors when standard procedures cannot be performed.
• Assist physicians performing invasive exams and perform procedures in the OR.
• Complete required documentation on forms, logs, and in the computer system.
• Follow Patient Care and Safety Policies and Procedures.
• Take call on a rotating basis and arrive at the hospital within 45 minutes of receipt of call.
• Adhere to HCA/St. David's HealthCare's Patient's First Initiatives, including Initial and Annual Code of Conduct, Mandatory Education, and Values Commitment/ICARE Standards.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
• Certificate of successful completion from an accredited school of vascular ultrasound.
• One year of previous experience in Vascular Ultrasound (preferred).
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
