Responsibilities
- Perform the technical aspects of all arterial and venous studies on hospital and clinical patients.
- Position patients for scans; set up and adjust equipment for each scan.
- Prepare supplies, instruments, and equipment and assist physicians during related procedures.
- Select and adjust equipment and transducers to appropriate settings to obtain, record, store, transmit, and print optimal images.
- Confer with physician to determine if additional images or information is required.
- Ensure completion of patient records, preliminary report documentation, and patient charges.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule exams and same-day add-on patients.
- Clean and disinfect transducers according to manufacturer recommendations and established infection control standards.
- Maintain adequate supplies in vascular ultrasound rooms and inform the manager when supplies are depleted.
- Provide technical assistance and instructions to students, employees, and medical residents.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current/valid registration, certification, or licensure in vascular sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
