- Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
- Demonstrates use of independent judgment as necessary.
- Affords patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the prescribed area of interest, the depth of field and other specifications of test.
- Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
- Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of the body and to monitor quality of images produced.
- Produces images of internal structures and records diagnostic data.
- Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
- Determines physicians orders and performs procedures accordingly.
- Explains the test to the patient.
- Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
- Gives the patient post exam instructions.
- Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
- Appropriately utilizes the functionality of the Epic system within their job responsibilities.
- Stays informed of Epic system updates and implements into daily work.
Qualifications
- Certification: Ultrasound Technician Certificate from accredited school.
- Certified Registered Vascular Tech
- CERT BLS
- Behavioral Attributes: Basic computer knowledge.
- Graduate of AMA approved training program in ultrasonography preferred.
- Registered Vascular Tech preferred.
