Tennessee Oncology, a leader in community-based cancer care, seeks a Vascular Sonographer Float to join its dynamic team. This role requires a strong foundation in non-invasive vascular ultrasound techniques and the ability to adapt to various clinic environments.

About the Role

As a Vascular Sonographer Float, you will provide flexible and dependable vascular ultrasound services across 11 clinic locations in Middle Tennessee. Your responsibilities include performing a full range of non-invasive vascular ultrasound exams, ensuring timely reporting, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Performs arterial, venous, carotid, and abdominal studies using advanced ultrasound techniques.
  • Evaluates and documents images for diagnostic quality and communicates significant findings to interpreting physicians.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and ensures work areas are clean and organized.
  • Monitors supply inventory and notifies supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Accurately enters exam information into the billing system and supports timely reimbursement.
  • Maintains IAC accreditation by contributing to quality assurance, documentation updates, and preparing required case logs and reports.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, medical assistants, and office staff to support coordinated patient care.
  • Assists with ultrasound coverage at clinic locations, adjusting settings to optimize image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues during scans and ensures prompt report turnaround for time-sensitive cases.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in vascular ultrasound through CMEs, literature review, and professional conferences.
  • Trains and orientates new staff members and students in lab protocols, equipment usage, and exam techniques.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS certification.
  • Successful completion of a formal 2–4-year vascular technology training program.
  • Willingness to travel and work at different sites as needed.
  • Registry eligibility within 12 months.
  • Vascular-specific experience preferred.
  • Active credential in vascular testing within first six months of employment.

Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of non-invasive vascular ultrasound techniques.
  • Strong technical skills in ultrasound equipment operation and image optimization.
  • Ability to adapt to different clinic environments and workflows.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards, including IAC, HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS certification.
  • Completion of a formal 2–4-year vascular technology training program.
  • Registry eligibility within 12 months.
  • Vascular-specific experience preferred.
  • Active credential in vascular testing within first six months of employment.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lifting objects, possibly in excess of 30 pounds.
  • Bending, reaching, and twisting.
  • Ability to assist and support patients in transfer from exam rooms, out of wheelchairs, onto exam tables, during the exam process, etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus as needed.
