Varsity Track and Field Head Coach
About the role
Immanuel Christian School is seeking a Varsity Track & Field Head Coach for the 2026–2027 season. We are looking for a qualified coach with strong track and field knowledge who is passionate about building and developing a competitive program while investing in the lives of student-athletes. The head coach will serve as the leader of the Track & Field program and will be responsible for establishing a culture that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, growth, and excellence. The ideal candidate will be committed not only to helping student-athletes develop and succeed in competition but also to mentoring them and helping them grow in character and faith.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the varsity Track & Field program
- Develop and implement a clear program philosophy that supports long-term athlete and team development
- Plan and oversee effective practices that provide appropriate instruction and development across track and field event disciplines
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and accountability
- Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and assistant coaches to coordinate practices, competitions, athlete development, and program needs
- Provide leadership and direction to assistant coaches while helping establish consistency across the various event groups
- Support and encourage student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and spiritual development
- Promote participation in the Track & Field program and help develop athletes of varying experience and ability levels
- Help build alignment and continuity between the middle school and varsity Track & Field programs
Qualifications
- Prior track and field experience required; varsity-level coaching experience preferred
- Strong understanding of track and field fundamentals, training principles, athlete development, and competition strategy
- Knowledge and experience across multiple track and field disciplines preferred
- Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with assistant coaches overseeing specialized event groups
- Ability to lead, mentor, and build meaningful relationships with high school student-athletes
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Immanuel Christian School
- Willingness to invest in the continued growth and development of the Track & Field program
