Varsity Boys Basketball - YES Prep Gulfton Secondary (26-27)

The Role

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:

• Organizing practices and games
• Making sure student athletes stay on track academically
• Providing an orientation to new student athletes
• Communicating with coaches and the athletic director
• Ensuring the athlete is a student first, with academics taking priority over athletics
• Being punctual to all scheduled athletic events
• Training student athletes to be in the best physical condition
• Leading the team and being available until the last student-athlete and their parents/guardians
• Collecting and maintaining athlete documentation

Other traits needed and desired for this role are:

• 0-3 years of coaching experience
• Strong knowledge of specific sport including rules, terminology, etc.
• Valid certification for CPR and AED use from a nationally recognized organization, or willingness to become certified within a given time frame
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
• Continued Education in specific sport
• Coached specific sport
• Experience working with kids

THE MUST HAVES

• 0-3 years of coaching experience
• Strong knowledge of specific sport including rules, terminology, etc.
• Must hold a valid certification for both CPR and AED use from a nationally recognized organization, or attend a district required training to become certified within a given time frame

THE NICE TO HAVES

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
• Continued Education in specific sport
• Coached specific sport
• Experience working with kids

COMPENSATION

$20.00 per hour (26-27 Academic Year)

SCHEDULE

4-5 hours/week for 6-8 weeks
