Job Responsibilities
- Observe the rules of the PIAA, PIAA District 1, and the Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL)
- Provide leadership and general team management in the areas of daily practice, skills, and character development
- Remain current with theories and techniques in their sport
- Attend all coaches' meetings and collaborate with athletic director and head coach and student manager
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletic administrators, students, parent body, and the community
- Evaluate and assess players' skills and select team rosters
- Responsible for team equipment
- Keep the scorebook current and available
Preferred Qualifications
- Clean driving record and ability to drive 9 9-passenger van
- Report areas of concern immediately to Athletic Directors - fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc.
- Initiate appropriate and regular communication with student-athletes and parents
- Follow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, meals
- Report and follow up with athletic trainer about injuries
- Write and submit individual comments on each student as scheduled
- Manage athletes at the appropriate level of the assigned sport
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and academic advisement
- Enforce the CCS Student Code of Conduct
- Promote good citizenship through actions as a role model
- Conduct himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
- Abide by the CCS Employee Manual and all current PA Public School expectations
Required Qualifications
- High school or collegiate playing experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A positive student-centered approach to coaching
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work
- Experience working with middle and high school-aged students
- Strong affinity for the mission of Collegium Charter School and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values
Required Skills
- Drivers License and the ability to drive a 9 passenger vehicle
- CPR and First Aid certified
