Job Responsibilities

  • Observe the rules of the PIAA, PIAA District 1, and the Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL)
  • Provide leadership and general team management in the areas of daily practice, skills, and character development
  • Remain current with theories and techniques in their sport
  • Attend all coaches' meetings and collaborate with athletic director and head coach and student manager
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletic administrators, students, parent body, and the community
  • Evaluate and assess players' skills and select team rosters
  • Responsible for team equipment
  • Keep the scorebook current and available

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clean driving record and ability to drive 9 9-passenger van
  • Report areas of concern immediately to Athletic Directors - fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc.
  • Initiate appropriate and regular communication with student-athletes and parents
  • Follow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, meals
  • Report and follow up with athletic trainer about injuries
  • Write and submit individual comments on each student as scheduled
  • Manage athletes at the appropriate level of the assigned sport
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress and academic advisement
  • Enforce the CCS Student Code of Conduct
  • Promote good citizenship through actions as a role model
  • Conduct himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
  • Abide by the CCS Employee Manual and all current PA Public School expectations

Required Qualifications

  • High school or collegiate playing experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • A positive student-centered approach to coaching
  • A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
  • Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Experience working with middle and high school-aged students
  • Strong affinity for the mission of Collegium Charter School and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values

Required Skills

  • Drivers License and the ability to drive a 9 passenger vehicle
  • CPR and First Aid certified
