About the role

The Varsity Assistant Boys Wrestling Coach position for the 2026-2027 school year is available at Newton High School. The start date is November 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in developing and implementing the wrestling program's training and competition strategies.
  • Work closely with the head coach to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Support the head coach in managing team logistics and scheduling.
  • Participate in team meetings and other coaching staff discussions.

Requirements

  • A valid coaching endorsement or coaching authorization issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
  • A copy of the following Iowa BOEE Coaching Certificate:
    • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Certificate.
  • Coaching transcripts.

Qualifications

  • Experience coaching boys wrestling at the high school level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and state wrestling rules and regulations.

Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
