About the role
The Varsity Assistant Boys Wrestling Coach position for the 2026-2027 school year is available at Newton High School. The start date is November 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in developing and implementing the wrestling program's training and competition strategies.
- Work closely with the head coach to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.
- Support the head coach in managing team logistics and scheduling.
- Participate in team meetings and other coaching staff discussions.
Requirements
- A valid coaching endorsement or coaching authorization issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
- A copy of the following Iowa BOEE Coaching Certificate:
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Certificate.
- Coaching transcripts.
Qualifications
- Experience coaching boys wrestling at the high school level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of NCAA and state wrestling rules and regulations.
Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Iowa BOEE Coaching Certificate
- Heartland AEA Mandatory Reporter Training Certificate
