About the role
The Vanderbilt Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Fellowship is a 12-month postgraduate program focusing on child and adolescent psychiatry. Fellows will gain exposure to various services including outpatient, inpatient, consult-liaison, and state custody consulting, alongside structured didactics.
Responsibilities
- Assessment of Health Status: Performs and documents complete history and physical examinations, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and formulates a plan of care.
- Diagnosis: Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to diagnose acute and chronic conditions, formulates differential diagnoses, and manages diagnostic tests.
- Plan of Care: Prescribes diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, manages further diagnostic tests, and documents progress notes.
- Communication and Collaboration: Maintains ongoing communication with interdisciplinary team and facilitates communication with patients, families, and staff.
- Documentation: Documents patient progress in medical records, ensuring compliance and capturing patient acuity.
- Professional Practice: Participates in educational opportunities, maintains continuing education, and engages in professional development.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Tennessee RN license and Tennessee APRN license with certificate of fitness to prescribe
- Eligible for DEA license

Pay
This is a full-time position with approximately 75% of effort towards clinical services and 25% towards didactic and specialty education in child and adolescent psychiatry; primary duties are Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM.
