Van Driver - Substitute

Responsibilities

• Transporting and assisting the elderly, persons with disabilities, children and the general public while maintaining van equipment and record keeping.
• Ensures the safe pick up and return of passengers.
• Maintures vans are properly fueled and maintained.
• Maintains the van in good working order by regularly checking operating parts: and systems such as checking the fluid levels, checking tire pressure, checking belts and taking the van to the garage when scheduled for service.
• Washes and cleans the van as needed.
• Maintains passenger and trip records.
• Aids passengers on and off the van.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or its equivalent and good and clean driving record.
• Driver's License valid in the State of North Carolina.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing van operation.
• Ability to understand, interpret and apply technical rules, directives and regulations.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Skills

• Physical Demands: Regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work requires distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts and frequently exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
