Responsibilities

  • Final Inspection & Release
    • Perform final inspection of repaired pressure relief valves prior to shipment.
    • Verify valve assembly is complete and free of visible defects or damage.
    • Confirm all required repairs, replacements, and adjustments have been completed.
    • Validate that valve configuration matches customer requirements and repair documentation.
    • Approve valves for release only after all quality, documentation, testing, traceability, and compliance requirements have been satisfied.
    • Exercise authority to stop release, quarantine nonconforming valves, and require discrepancy resolution before shipment.
  • Documentation Review
    • Review repair packages for completeness, accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
    • Verify all required inspection, repair, and testing records are completed.
    • Confirm traceability of replacement parts and materials when required.
    • Verify calibration status of equipment used during inspection and testing activities.
    • Ensure all required signatures, approvals, repair reports, and quality records are complete before final release.
  • Test Data Verification
    • Review as-found and as-left test data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with repair documentation.
    • Verify set pressure, seat tightness, and performance results meet applicable customer, procedure, and code requirements.
    • Confirm testing was conducted in accordance with approved procedures.
    • Ensure test results are documented accurately and completely.
    • Resolve discrepancies in testing records prior to valve release.
  • VR Program Compliance
    • Verify compliance with NBIC, National Board VR Program requirements, customer specifications, and company quality procedures.
    • Confirm repair reports and supporting records are complete, accurate, traceable, and suitable for internal or external audit review.
    • Verify appropriate application of repair identification and quality records.
    • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate quality documentation.
    • Promote adherence to company quality management system requirements.
  • Nameplate & Identification Verification
    • Verify valve identification information is accurate and legible.
    • Confirm manufacturer, model, serial number, size, and pressure ratings match repair documentation.
    • Verify repair tags and identification markings are completed correctly.
    • Ensure all required labeling and documentation accompany the valve.
  • Quality Assurance Support
    • Investigate and document quality discrepancies identified during final inspection.
    • Initiate corrective action requests when nonconformances are identified.
    • Coordinate with technicians, test personnel, supervisors, and Quality leadership to resolve quality issues without assuming repair, test, or management approval responsibilities.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives intended to improve quality, efficiency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in pressure relief valves, quality control, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • National Board VR Program training preferred.
  • ASME / NBIC training preferred.
  • Quality Inspector certification preferred.
  • Internal Auditor certification preferred.
  • Pressure Relief Valve Technician qualification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in pressure relief valve repair, testing, inspection, or quality assurance preferred.
  • Experience working within a National Board VR-certified repair facility strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of repair documentation and quality control processes.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Pressure relief valve operation and repair practices
    • Pressure relief valve testing techniques
    • Inspection and measurement equipment
    • Quality assurance principles
    • National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) requirements
    • National Board VR Program requirements
    • Pressure relief valve terminology and components
    • Technical drawings and repair documentation
