Value Stream Specialist Job

Primary location: Marietta, Pennsylvania. Relocation is not offered. This is a full-time position with no travel or non-compete requirements.

The Value Stream Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing raw material and manufacturing systems to enable continuous process improvement within designated plant Value Streams. You’ll drive performance targets in Safety, Scrap, Quality, Downtime, Productivity, and Cost Control, leveraging technical expertise to lead significant process improvements involving raw material utilization, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and human elements. This role requires leadership to assist the Value Stream Manager in organizational transformation and well-developed professional skills in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical expertise and leadership skills to identify, initiate, and implement significant process improvement activities in support of Value Stream Transformation.
• Drive improvements in operations through effective Downday planning and execution.
• Integrate maintenance and production work, including prioritizing and scheduling activities.
• Coordinate Maintenance activities and improvement projects, including major shutdowns and holiday periods.
• Follow up on countermeasures and complete special cause investigations for production issues.
• Identify and correct product quality problems.
• Investigate Fabrication project problems, develop and evaluate alternatives, and propose solutions considering economic and manufacturing requirements.
• Manage and improve Fabrication housekeeping using Lean 5S principles.
• Support production in manpower planning, production planning, and raw material utilization.
• Recommend solutions for annual capital and maintenance budgets, providing rough cost estimates.
• Provide timely communications to Production, Engineering, and Maintenance departments regarding improvements and changes.
• Integrate operations with production planning, raw material flow, inventory, packaging, quality, and GIPC.
• Coordinate new product development (NPD) activities.
• Enable transformation from a task-based to a systems-based culture using Lean principles.
• Own operator training systems and execution.
• Provide on-shift technical support (4-crew rotating schedule).
• Cover occasionally for Supervisor and/or Value Stream Manager vacancies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus 5+ years of manufacturing experience or a bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering), business, or related field.
• Knowledge and practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing or process improvement principles.
• Proven ability to implement and audit systems to drive manufacturing results.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).

Preferred Experience

• Supervisory experience.
• 5+ years in a continuous manufacturing process.
• Prior work experience in a union environment.

Pay

The estimated base salary range for this role is $88,000 to $100,000 per year. Individual pay is based on location, skills, expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
