Value Stream Mgr/Operations Manager

About the Role
This role involves broad responsibility and leadership for the overall operation of a value stream. You will implement the Parker Lean system and Win Strategy to ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a technically qualified workforce, and reduce operating costs, inventories, and lead times through continuous improvements. You will oversee day-to-day activities to meet operational targets and manage Team Leaders, associates, Process Engineering, Quality, budgets, employment decisions, and performance assessments.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of Value Stream P&L, including cost analysis, product line margin, PPV goals, and manufacturing productivity.
- Responsible for POP implementation and long-term manufacturing strategies.
- Provide operational leadership, including successful Lean implementation for productivity gains.
- Meet regularly with Value Stream Leaders to address problems, solutions, and challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead daily operations and continuous improvements, including supply chain production control, manufacturing priorities, coordination with off-shift management, and order shipments.
- Emphasize continuous product flow, utilize pull systems where flow is not possible, and level the workload.
- Ensure standardized work/processes are followed, countermeasures are implemented, and safety requirements are met to enable continuous improvement and employee empowerment.
- Maintain a positive team atmosphere, hold regular team meetings, and assign tasks while coordinating support services.
- Utilize PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) with Tracking Centers and Team Improvement Boards to ensure results.
- Ensure Value Stream Leaders provide effective cross-training for associates, including backups, to maintain smooth operations and a culture of fixing problems for first-time quality.
- Collaborate with Division Staff to develop future state value stream maps and manage plans to achieve them, as documented in the Site Tracking Center.
- Maintain Team Improvement Boards (TIB) and ensure a visually controlled environment where no problems remain hidden.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of major professional accomplishments, including increasing responsibility and leadership of large, complex projects and teams.
- Previous P&L ownership experience preferred.
- Experience in accounting, PC skills, manufacturing, human resources management, inventory control, and strategic planning.
- Demonstrated teamwork and team-building skills to meet organizational objectives.
- Ability to assess and develop individual and team skills and capabilities.
- Capable of creating enthusiasm for new and challenging goals and serving as a role model for positive change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading or participating in LEAN process improvements/implementation preferred.
