About the role
Atkore is a leading provider of electrical, safety, and infrastructure solutions, with a global network of manufacturing and distribution facilities. This position is based in Wayne, MI and reports to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement the Atkore Business System, Lean Daily Management, and Strategy Deployment Process.
- Drive Atkore's Lean Excellence strategy.
- Operational leadership resulting in a safe work environment, exceptional quality performance, lean implementation, productivity gains, reduction in operating costs, inventories, and lead times.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
- Create, implement, and modify standardized work to ensure its adherence by value stream team members.
- Install and maintain a positive "can-do" team atmosphere through regular team meetings, task assignment, empowerment, and coordination of support services.
- Develop and coach team members to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement countermeasures and solutions.
- Develop and manage supervisors and associates, including performance assessment, attendance management, professional development, etc.
- Develop and implement cross-training activities to ensure proper function of work cells and maximize team potential.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or operations management.
- MBA or master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
- Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based companies is required.
Qualifications
- Strong lean manufacturing background and passion for lean growth.
- Proven track record of lean accomplishments and cost-out and process improvements.
- Experience and background in accounting, human resources management in a unionized environment, inventory control, and strategic planning preferred but not required.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications, and ability to analyze information and create reports.
- Experience with JD Edwards, SAP, or any other ERP system is a plus.
Benefits
Atkore offers competitive compensation, including a good faith estimate of $112,800 - $155,100 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include medical, vision, and dental insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, paid holidays, and other incentives. Shift differentials and bonuses may also be available.
