Value Stream Leader - IVD - 2nd shift
Position Summary
The Value Stream Leader oversees and works alongside the IVD department and its team members. This individual monitors production and quality control on all materials processed through the IVD department and assists with inventory counts. They are the first point of contact for team members with any questions about orders or departmental issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains sewing machines and heat-sealing operations.
- Inspects finished goods.
- Performs trouble-shooting of mechanical problems.
- Aids in inventory counts.
- Helps train new employees in the Department.
- Supervises employees in the Department and ensures appropriate allocation and usage of personnel.
- Directs, guides, and assists employees in the performance of their duties.
- Maintains and monitors inventories of raw materials, supplies, and finished goods as necessary.
- Captures and generates required reports related to production summaries.
- Schedules preventive maintenance on machines.
- Performs other duties and handles special projects as assigned by the IVD Value Stream Manager or VP of Operations.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic math aptitude.
- Prior leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using and implementing Lean Manufacturing practices.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of tow motor operations.
- Ability to read gauges, weight scales, and tape measures.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Knowledge of safety rules.
- Operates industrial sewing machines, heat sealers, grommeting machines, and rewinders.
- Knowledge of Sigma Six, CAPA, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for 8 or more hours per day.
- Lift items over 30 lbs on a regular basis and occasionally lift items more than 50 lbs.
- Perform tasks requiring standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching, and flexing for 8 or more hours per day.
