As an Associate in Houlihan Capital's Valuation and Financial Advisory practice, you will be an integral part of a high-performing team focused on delivering high-quality financial analyses and reports for a diverse range of client valuation needs, including:

The position provides a unique opportunity to utilize valuation techniques across all types of illiquid investments (including debt, preferred equity, common equity, options, crypto assets, structured products, and more) across a wide variety of industries for private equity funds, venture capital funds, corporations, and many other clients. The position is remote and reports to the Senior Vice President, Valuation and Financial Advisory.

Responsibilities

  • Valuation Model Completion: Accurately and efficiently populate Excel-based valuation models used to value equity, debt, and other illiquid securities for a variety of purposes, including financial reporting, tax, and transaction-related. Attention to detail is critical in ensuring that these valuation models are robust when reviewed by the project manager.
  • Ownership of Client Data: Accept full ownership of reviewing, understanding, and synthesizing client-provided materials. This includes financial data, operating agreements, transaction documents, company presentations, and other essential documents. Thoroughness and commitment to ensuring the completeness of these materials will be critical to the success of each engagement.
  • Client Presentations and Reports: Assist in drafting client presentations and reports, preparing supporting tables, charts, and exhibits that communicate our findings clearly and concisely.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and company-specific issues that will help to strengthen the analyses and insights we provide to clients.
  • Engagement Execution: Work closely with internal team members and clients on multiple engagements to ensure alignment on objectives. Consistently update the project manager on status, including progress toward completion, client-provided information gaps, analytical challenges, and key assumptions, to keep all stakeholders informed and drive successful engagement outcomes.
  • Productivity and Optimization: Effectively prioritize tasks across multiple, simultaneous engagements, ensuring tight deadlines are consistently met without compromising quality. Adapt to shifting priorities and manage competing demands by maintaining organized workflows, anticipating bottlenecks, and proactively communicating progress with team members and clients.

Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for candidates with degrees in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields. An advanced degree or valuation credential (MBA, CFA) is a plus.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of relevant work experience in performing valuations for financial reporting or tax purposes or in a related field.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts in a clear and engaging way.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Experience with financial databases like S&P Capital IQ, Pitchbook, or Bloomberg is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage simultaneous engagements, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, particularly in reviewing financial and legal documents, is essential to ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Problem Solving: Preemptively seek solutions and contribute ideas that drive successful outcomes. Critical thinking and self-propelled working habits will lead to success in this role.

Pay

Base salary is expected between $83,000 to $98,000, with eligibility for semi-annual bonuses, 401(k) match, and participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
