About the Role

The Valet Attendant/Driver is responsible for the safe operation and transport of guest vehicles on company property in accordance with established policies, procedures, and controls. This position involves transporting guests to and from the property in a company-issued vehicle as requested. The role works under immediate supervision and relies on limited experience, instructions, pre-established guidelines, and good judgment to perform the functions of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold Valley View Casino & Hotel’s Standards of Excellence as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.
  • Assist customers promptly and courteously in Valet check-in and checkout.
  • Retrieve all pick-ups from the Valet lot (weather conditions permitting) in an efficient and timely manner, following established safety guidelines.
  • Promptly clear the valet drop-off area of cars to be parked.
  • Park vehicles in designated areas of the property, accurately record the location of the vehicle on a Valet receipt, attach it to the appropriate keys, and store them in the Valet office until the guest is ready to leave.
  • Present a clean, neat, and well-groomed appearance, wearing only the designated Valet uniform while on the job.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory count of all valet keys checked in and out of the Valet Department; ensure the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
  • Effectively communicate with the Lead Valet Attendant.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company facilities and special events on property to advise guests and fellow team members.
  • Conduct all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Adhere to performance standards, company policies, and procedures as they relate to the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver License and a good driving record; must be insurable by Valley View Casino & Hotel’s insurance policy.
  • Physical endurance and stamina to quickly retrieve and park guest vehicles.
  • Ability to speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals written in English.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, referring back to established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to define problems involving several concrete variables, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to carry out primary duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations (e.g., fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions).
  • Use good judgment when providing information to guests and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Must successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing and a drug screening test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous hospitality experience.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception) for navigating office and casino environments, reading and reviewing reports and policies, and operating data processing equipment.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • May be required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week; flexibility to work any and all shifts is required.
  • Exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts, risk of radiation from computers, and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions, including wet, hot, and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally subject to inside environmental conditions that provide protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; on the casino floor, it increases to loud.
