Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and assist Veteran patients who request help in exiting or entering their vehicle.
- If requested on arrival, either retrieve VA provided wheelchairs or remove VA patient's wheelchair from VA patient's vehicle and assist VA patient into the wheelchair.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of valet staging and parking areas.
- Park or retrieve VA patient vehicles respectively within ten (10) minutes of arrival or request for retrieval.
- Ensure only Veteran patients, or the STL VAMC defined exceptions, park in designated valet parking areas.
- Provide self-parking directions to visitors, employees, and vendors.
- Monitor / report suspicious people, incidents, and / or hazardous situations in the valet staging / parking areas to the on-duty Valet Manager and VA Police as appropriate.
- Safely parking and retrieving valet parking eligible vehicles
- For valet-parked vehicles:
- Providing instructions to valet-parked vehicle drivers on how to check and claim their valet-parked vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)
- A High School diploma or higher
- A valid U.S. driver's license (from the State of Missouri) with a minimum of two years driving experience
- A U.S. Citizenship
- Fluent in English
- Pass 5-panel drug testing clearance
- Pass a criminal background check
- A clean DMV driving history review
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly required to talk or listen
- Frequently required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
