About the role

This position is a safety-sensitive role subject to drug testing requirements. A positive drug test will result in a job offer being rescinded or, for active employees, termination, even if the candidate tests positive for marijuana and holds a valid medical marijuana license.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and properly store equipment and clothing used by jockeys and drivers.
• Assist jockeys and drivers with dressing and undressing in racing silks.
• Arrange saddles and pads to ensure the proper weights are carried in each race.
• Assist trainers with saddling horses before each race.
• Assist jockeys with unsaddling and transporting equipment back to the jockey/driver room after each race.
• Follow established safety procedures and use protective equipment as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least 6 months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain licensing through the appropriate gaming authority.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around potential hazards and follow extensive safety precautions.
• Ability to work effectively with jockeys, drivers, trainers, and other team members.
