Vaccine for Children Coordinator (Part-Time)

Vaccine Management

• Conducts monthly review of vaccine usage, inventory, and eligibility documentation using GRITS.
• Approves vaccine orders based on analysis of data.
• Analyzes data to evaluate effectiveness of current VFC vaccine management and storage policies and procedures.
• Manages inventory, tracks temperature excursions, and prepares monthly reports.
• Orders, stores, handles, and administers vaccines.
• Administers and manages an emergency plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant experience with vaccine schedule and vaccine administration.
• Knowledge and skills related to GRITS and CDC’s Vaccine Tracking System (VTrckS).
• Knowledge of ACIP vaccine recommendations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Excellent phone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Immunization resource for assigned providers.
• Monitors, assesses, and evaluates VFC providers for compliance with policies and guidelines.
• Maintains and records daily min/max temperatures for vaccine storage units.
• Ensures proper storage conditions and takes corrective action for temperature issues.
• Downloads data logger information and consults the VSIR Decision Tree.
• Ensures accurate vaccine tracking and resolves discrepancies.
• Notifies nursing leadership and GRITS of potential vaccine spoilage.
• Separates and labels wasted vaccines.
• Works with MedCura to develop and implement goals.
• Participates in public health emergency response.
• Stays current with CDC and GRITS trainings.
