Job Summary

The volunteers at Humanitas are there for everyone in the Netherlands who needs support. We stand beside and close to people throughout the country. Humanitas is a national volunteer organization that has been active for more than 78 years. With 78 branches spread across the entire country, divided into 5 districts, 20,000 trained volunteers offer support in 770 activities to more than 50,000 participants. The volunteers help people change their situation through self-reliance. The support is free for participants and always nearby. The organization is supported by a professional organization. All administrative functions are also carried out by volunteers. At Humanitas in Breda, about 200 volunteers give participants the confidence they need to change their situation through self-reliance. If you have qualities in the areas of good communication, inter-level negotiation, policy formulation, and management, and want to use your knowledge and experience to further position Humanitas Breda, then General Board Member is for you!

Responsibilities

• Work together with other board members to answer questions generated by changing society.
• Ensure that people who need support can receive it easily and without complicated procedures.
• As a portfolio holder, work with relevant coordinators and volunteers to achieve the objectives of the respective project.
• Collaborate with the board to formulate policies for the branch.
• Be responsible for creating a pleasant (friendly) atmosphere within the branch based on equality and respect for each other.

Requirements

• Willing to actively participate (typically one to two days per week, flexible availability)
• Agree with the goals and values of Humanitas
• Have a social commitment and affinity with the target group and working area
• Have good communication and social skills
• Have practicality
• Have a heart for volunteer work
• Have knowledge and insight into (regional) social developments
