Summary Of Functions

Able and available to perform all production and warehouse positions in the absence of the operator who normally performs the job. This includes Evaporator/Dryer, Packaging, Receiving, Churn Operator, Butter Packaging and Warehouse positions.

Responsibilities

  • Evaporator/Dryer
    • Operate cream processing, evaporators and dryer in a safe, sanitary manner.
    • Operations include cream pasteurizing, condensing and drying of product, cleaning of cream pasteurizer, evaporator, dryer and related equipment, and documenting accurate recordings of test results while in operation.
    • Cleaning of the cream pasteurizer, evaporator and dryer includes hand cleaning parts, clean-in-place operations, and dry cleaning on a daily basis.
    • Know proper established start up and shut down procedures.
    • Maintain proper moisture and quality of product being produced.
    • Monitor moisture, fat and scorched particles at least once per hour and enter in log sheet while operating.
    • Check inside of dryer for powder build up and react accordingly to findings. (Inform supervisor of any problems during CIP of unit)
    • Inspect tailings.
    • Inspect sifter screen, magnet and report to supervisor any concerns.
    • Properly clean evaporator and dryer.
    • Properly clean condensed storage silos, cream storage silos, balance tanks, lines, valves and pumps.
    • Test CIP solution strengths and log on CIP log.
    • Service pumps and valves as needed and/or per preventative maintenance.
    • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality.
  • Receiving Operator
    • Receive incoming milk, and other products as needed.
    • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
    • Perform raw product load out as needed and any other duties assigned by management.
    • Receive all incoming products that meet legal and company standards.
    • CIP of Tankers, Silos, and line circuits.
    • Take proper samples of incoming products for bacteria, butterfat, SNF, and inhibitory substances.
    • Take proper samples to monitor CIP system for chemical strengths.
    • Monitor testing equipment.
    • Replace supplies as needed.
    • Ensure that the load out of all raw products is within specification prior to load out.
    • Service pumps and valves as needed and/or per preventative maintenance schedule.
    • Perform load out in an efficient and sanitary manner.
    • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality.
  • Packaging Operator
    • Maintains proper packaging of dry product in 25kg bags and totes via filling, lifting, and stacking onto pallets.
    • Packaging Operators are responsible for the proper filling, lifting and stacking of 25kg bags (55.115 lbs.) and accounting of Inventory produced.
    • Observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
    • Labeling and changing sample bags on auto sampler.
    • Making sure the production line is running smoothly and watching for problems such as pileups, jams, or glue that isn’t sticking properly.
    • Inspecting and removing defective products and packaging material.
    • Changing and sealing unacceptable bags of powder produced during the shift.
    • Responsible for the general cleanliness of the packaging room and its equipment.
    • The packaging room must remain USDA inspection ready at all times.
    • Knowledge and understanding of filling equipment and maintaining a pace consistent with the packing line.
    • Reporting immediately to supervisor of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning equipment.
    • Aiding in the training of new personnel.
    • Following all safety, work, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules.
    • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality.
    • Performing other duties as assigned by management.
  • Churn Operator
    • Churn Operators are responsible for the proper mixing and blending of the butter that is produced.
    • Maintain a high level of sanitation and cleanliness while performing tasks.
    • Observe churn operations to ensure quality and conformity of mixing and blending of products to meet standards.
    • Mix or blend ingredients by starting machines and mixing for specified times.
    • Weigh and measure materials, ingredients or products to ensure conformance to requirements.
    • Collect samples of products for laboratory testing.
    • Keep accurate and legible records.
    • Monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
    • Inspect and analyze butter samples and make process adjustments.
    • Responsible for the general cleanliness of the butter room and its equipment.
    • The butter room must remain USDA inspection ready at all times.
    • Knowledge and understanding of churn equipment and maintaining a pace consistent with butter operations.
    • Reporting immediately to supervisor of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning equipment.
    • Aiding in the training of new personnel.
    • Following all safety, work, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules.
    • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality.
    • Performing other duties as assigned by management.
  • Butter Packaging Operator
    • Butter Packaging Operators are responsible for the proper packaging of the butter and accounting of inventory produced.
    • Observing machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
    • Maintain a high level of sanitation and cleanliness while performing tasks.
    • Making sure the production line is running smoothly and watching for problems such as pileups, jams, tape, or glue that isn’t sticking properly.
    • Inspecting and removing defective products and packaging material.
    • Changing and sealing unacceptable packages of butter produced during the shift.
    • Responsible for the general cleanliness of the butter packaging room and its equipment.
    • The butter packaging room must remain USDA inspection ready at all times.
    • Knowledge and understanding of butter packaging equipment and maintaining a pace consistent with the packing line.
    • Reporting immediately to supervisor of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning equipment.
    • Aiding in the training of new personnel.
    • Following all safety, work, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules.
    • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality.
    • Performing other duties as assigned by management.
  • Warehouse Operator
    • Responsible for the load out and receiving of all products and supplies for the dry operation.
    • Maintains chemical supplies at an acceptable level.
    • Maintain proper rotation of the products, inventory of supplies, and of assigned items.
    • See that all powder orders are properly shipped, and all necessary paperwork is properly filled out.
    • Assure that the warehouse stays clean and orderly at all times and that white borders stay clean.
    • All supplies and inventory items remain 18” from the walls.
    • Conduct monthly and yearly inventories.
    • Confirm product quality with Quality Assurance Department prior to shipping.
    • Inspects all trucks prior to loading; they must be clean and free of any foreign debris.
    • Do not load any damaged product.
    • Maintain current chemical supplies for all plant operations.
    • Keep chemical storage area neat, clean, and orderly at all times.
    • All Area Duties
    • Aid in the training of new personnel.
    • Report immediately to foreperson or supervisor of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning the equipment.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
    • Facility must remain USDA inspection ready at all times.
    • Follow all company safety, working, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
    • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

Qualifications

  • Must work in a safe, efficient manner and follow all safety procedures including the use of safety equipment.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot small problems and be able to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.
  • Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
  • Must be able to operate the equipment effectively after the appropriate break-in period.

Education And/Or Experience

  • A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
