V.I.E. Front Office Trading Software Engineer

About the role

The “Global Banking Technology & Operations” (“GBTO”) department has worldwide responsibility for supplying Global Banking and Investor Solutions (“GBIS”) with all the technology and operations resources necessary for them to function under competitive conditions in terms of technological standards, service quality and cost. The GBTO technology division is responsible for front-office systems development globally, supporting trading activity in America, Europe and Asia.

Focusing on Fixed Income, our group provides pricing tools, negotiation engines, market connectivity and other trading system applications. The New York team supports the rapidly growing New York trading desks with a combination of in-house and vendor systems. All teams in our group are co-located on the trading floor and have daily interactions with our users.

Part of a global setup for FIC activities (Rates, Cash, Emerging, Forex, Structured Products and Credit), the pricing team develops on a common platform, with applications deployed in Paris, London, New York and Hong-Kong. The team has a long history of relying on Agile and continuous delivery methodologies (Kanban) and tools (Jira / GitHub / GitHub Actions / Jenkins / TeamCity / OctopusDeploy).

The Pre-Trade front office group supports the AMER Rates Desk. Our functions include business analysis, price distribution, trading tools development and reporting. The position is for a C#/.Net developer who will work with the electronic trading team. The electronic trading team develops and supports software in an AGILE environment for price/inventory publication, inquiry management and straight through processing of electronic trades. Our software interacts with various external electronic trading systems and exchanges such as Bloomberg, Tradeweb, BrokerTec, Trad-X, MarketAxess, etc.

The position involves developing our strategic trading tool for dealer to client, and inter-dealer trading across Fixed Income. This includes client and server-side development. The candidate will be involved in the entire development lifecycle, including working with business analysts and participating in testing campaigns. The team follows a DevOps model, requiring close collaboration with the support team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all data and flows between other trading and settlement applications are maintained.
• Build applications for various Front Office businesses.
• Design and develop strong real-time pricing solutions and data analytics tools for traders (full stack development: front to back).
• Assist the support team in the rollout of releases.
• Provide clear and consistent reports to clients and management.
• Work with users and business analysts to understand user needs and translate requirements into systems.
• Collaborate with senior developers to propose designs and implement projects accordingly.
• Ensure Agile and continuous delivery methodology is followed.
• Ensure code is well tested.
• Follow release management and change management processes.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
• Troubleshoot technical or functional issues in a complex financial environment to provide timely resolution across global applications and platforms.
• Manage several streams of work concurrently.
• Apply IT best practices to improve development quality.
• Engage with teams abroad to deploy and adapt existing European and Asian tools.
• Participate as a motivated, proactive, and highly contributing member of the global team.
• Collaborate with other teams (networking, systems, quality assurance, support, architects, other development teams).
• Contribute to documentation efforts to improve knowledge sharing within and outside the team.

Requirements

• Graduate with a Master's degree from a Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Computer Science or a related subject. A degree in Finance is a plus.
• Fluent in English (B2-C1).

Skills

• Mandatory:
  • Strong technical skills in .Net C#.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Rigorous, dynamic, detail-oriented, with a fast learning capacity and ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of object-oriented programming.
  • Multithreaded application development knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of programming design patterns including MVVM.
  • Experience with source control tools, preferably Git.
  • Understanding of Agile development practices.
  • Proficient in Dependency Injection and Entity Framework.
  • Experience in CI/CD frameworks and standard DevOps tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, JIRA, etc.).
• Preferred:
  • Experience working with Databases and SQL.
  • Experience developing user interfaces using WPF or React.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes/Azure.
  • Experience working with any AI framework (MCP, Agentic, LLMs, NLP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Fixed Income Products such as Bonds and IRS.
  • Knowledge in Risk Analysis or Pricing.

About the assignment

This VIE assignment in New York is to begin as soon as possible, with a 3-month lead time between application and start date. The assignment will last 18 months. Candidates must be under 28 and from a member state of the European Economic Space. If a visa is required, ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of the contract.

A questionnaire will be provided to check your VIE eligibility. Formal proof of your M2 diploma validation is mandatory before the assignment start date; grade sheets are not accepted.
