UXO Technician I
Responsibilities
- Perform UXO surface sweeps, UXO subsurface clearances, UXO avoidance, and supporting geophysical/UXO surveys.
- Prepare firing systems, both electric/non-electric, for demilitarization operations.
- Transport demolition materials and/or UXO and DMM determined to be safe over public traffic routes.
- Absorb MPPEH for the presence of explosive hazards.
- Construct UXO-related protective works.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management.
- Minimum 0 - 3 years of commercial UXO experience.
- Graduate of a formal course of instruction appropriate to this skill level.
- Perform all functions enumerated for UXO Sweep Personnel and UXO Technician.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Geonics EM61-MK2, Trimble GPS/PDA.
- Computer knowledge with MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant field.
Physical & Cognitive Requirements
- Ability to lift/move/relocate items up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged standing up to 90% of the time.
- Walking long distances.
- Walking over uneven or mountainous terrain.
- Lifting, walking, driving, and working in harsh (hot/cold/windy/vegetated) environments.
- Repetitive hand motions (typing, tool use, etc.).
- Ability to see details at close range.
- Ability to see details at a distance.
- Viewing computer screen for extended periods.
- Interpret and analyze visual data (maps, graphs, warning indicators, etc.).
- Operating heavy machinery or tools (would only include for a role for heavy equipment operator).
- Driving a company or personal vehicle.
- Climbing ladders or stairs.
Work Environment Requirements
- Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.).
- May work in environments with loud noises, dust, or hazardous materials.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration.
Details
- Work Schedule: HGL office work is dictated by a 5-day work week; however, fieldwork schedules will deviate based on job requirements and may require longer hours and weekends.
- Office Type: Remote with travel to project sites, on-site.
- Travel: 100%.
