UX/UI Design Intern
About the role
Reingold is a full-service marketing and creative firm in Alexandria, VA. For more than 40 years, we’ve been driven by a simple mission: to help organizations –– whether in the government, nonprofit, or business sector –– as they strive to make the world a better place. We hire top-notch talent to develop and launch compelling, inventive communications campaigns, leveraging the latest technology and digital media strategies that enable our clients to meet their audiences where they are.
The UX/UI Design Intern joins our digital team for a full-time, in-person internship focused on pairing the latest tools and technology with critical thinking to design websites, apps, and digital tools that make complex information easy for real people to use. You’ll work alongside skilled designers, strategists, and developers on projects for government, nonprofit, and commercial clients. And you’ll contribute to every stage of the design process, from early research and wireframes to polished, tested prototypes. This is a hands-on opportunity to build your portfolio and learn how a modern, digital-first agency delivers user-centered work.
Responsibilities
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for client websites, applications, and digital campaigns.
- Support user research, including heuristic analysis, usability testing, and competitive audits, and help synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Assist in developing personas, journey maps, site maps, and information architecture to guide design decisions.
- Apply client brand guidelines and design systems to keep work consistent, and help build and maintain reusable components and style libraries.
- Review designs for accessibility to help meet WCAG and Section 508 standards.
- Share work in progress during team critiques, and present ideas to internal teams and, as appropriate, clients.
- Document design decisions and help prepare project deliverables, such as annotated designs and research summaries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in interaction design, human-computer interaction, graphic design, digital media, or a related field.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Build and follow timelines and meet tight deadlines.
- Possess a collaborative, team-player attitude.
- Be eager to learn by doing and take initiative.
- Be able to receive and incorporate peer feedback.
