Role Overview
IBM Research is shaping the future of computing by making quantum technology accessible. The Quantum team collaborates with leading scientists, engineers, and visionaries to push boundaries and turn ideas into reality. This role requires a user experience designer who can iterate on and deliver high-quality user experience designs for IBM Quantum Platform.
Responsibilities
- Work on and deliver high-quality user experience designs for IBM Quantum Platform, including the productive use, learning, and documentation experiences.
- Partner with team members across disciplines, including those with highly technical backgrounds, to deliver products that will help advance the entire quantum computing technology stack and make quantum more broadly usable and accessible.
- Develop user flows and mockups (low to high fidelity) using and expanding upon the Carbon Design System and its application across existing IBM Quantum products.
- Communicate with key stakeholders across disciplines to identify user needs, design requirements, and development constraints.
- Present and review user flows and designs with key stakeholders across disciplines, using effective storytelling to communicate user pain points and defend design decisions.
- Apply research insights via partnership with the design research team to improve the product experience and meet user needs.
- Partner with the development team to deliver accurate and useful interfaces.
- Collaborate with visual designers and developers to ensure consistency and accessibility of designs, throughout the handover, review, and release processes.
Requirements
- Strong experience with designing human-centered experiences for web interfaces.
- Strong experience with converging and translating technological, operational, and functional constraints into human-centered opportunities that enhance the overall user experience.
