The department at UNC-Chapel Hill seeks a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our collaborative team. Our department is dedicated to advancing the understanding of trauma recovery and developing interventions that improve outcomes for trauma survivors. This position is an excellent opportunity for recent college graduates or post-baccalaureate students interested in gaining hands-on clinical research experience prior to pursuing graduate, medical, or other advanced training.
Responsibilities
- Support the Principal Investigators, Managing Director, Project Managers, and senior coordinators on several ongoing and upcoming clinical research studies
- Assist with study start-up activities and regulatory documentation
- Screens and recruits participants, obtains informed consent, and conducts study visits and follow-up surveys (in-person and by phone)
- Collections, enters, and verifies research data with high attention to detail
- Maintains study materials, including manuals of procedures and study logs
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team across UNC and partner institutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge of research best practices and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to successfully implement study protocols, recruit and enroll study participants, and collect and maintain data
- Significant attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple competing priorities
- Ability to work with a variety of people in a professional, effective, and diplomatic manner, with excellent communication skills and a strong focus on customer service
- Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
