Utility Worker/Service Employee

Position subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Pay

Starting pay $23.99/hr.

Benefits

• Vacation: 2 weeks after 1 year of service.
• Paid Sick Leave: 40 hours after 90 days of employment.

Benefits are paid 80% by the employer and 20% by the employee. Benefits may vary depending on location policy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of fleet vehicles – interior and exterior.
• Driving, maneuvering, and parking vehicles.
• Fueling buses, replenishing fluids, and logging and recording all fluids and mileages.
• Fuel non-revenue vehicles.
• Downloading drive cameras and vault fare boxes.
• Perform light maintenance to shop areas, fuel stations, and related facilities.
• Report maintenance issues to supervisor.
• Charge battery electric fleet.
• Maintain the cleanliness of buildings, offices, maintenance bays, breakrooms, and restrooms.
• Maintain the cleanliness of bus parking lots and landscaping.
• Shuttle vehicles as needed for Operations and Maintenance staff.
• Periodically paint maintenance facility walls.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 3 years.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside, work alone, and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
• Push and pull objects up to 75 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
