Utility Worker I (Temporary)

Responsibilities

• Maintains chainsaws, weed eaters, chop saws, and other hand and power tools.
• Assists in the maintenance and repairs of division equipment.
• Maintains automated scale to ensure accuracy.
• Monitors the disposal of Asbestos and other special waste in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
• Conducts snow removal operations.
• Maintains grounds at all division properties.
• Performs related duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
• Relevant experience may include: Drive fleet-small to medium size vehicles, operate skid steer, familiarity with vehicle and equipment inspections, skilled in using hand power tools and ability to perform duties in all weather conditions.
• Ability to direct traffic, pickup trash, install signs, build barriers and work as a member of team.
• Current HAZWOPER certification or ability to become HAZWOPER certified within six months of hire date.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Employees assigned driving duties/responsibilities, must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.
