Responsibilities
- Maintains chainsaws, weed eaters, chop saws, and other hand and power tools.
- Assists in the maintenance and repairs of division equipment.
- Maintains automated scale to ensure accuracy.
- Monitors the disposal of Asbestos and other special waste in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
- Conducts snow removal operations.
- Maintains grounds at all division properties.
- Performs related duties.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
- Relevant experience may include: Drive fleet-small to medium size vehicles, operate skid steer, familiarity with vehicle and equipment inspections, skilled in using hand power tools and ability to perform duties in all weather conditions.
- Ability to direct traffic, pickup trash, install signs, build barriers and work as a member of team.
- Current HAZWOPER certification or ability to become HAZWOPER certified within six months of hire date.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Employees assigned driving duties/responsibilities, must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.

Following is a brief description of the only benefit provided to this class of employee: Alaska Supplemental Benefits System. The Supplemental Benefits System (SBS) is in lieu of Social Security and is mandatory. An employee contributes at 6.13% of gross wages, matched by the Borough (6.13%), on the present wage base of $176,100. 01.
