Utility Worker | Full-Time | PPG Paints Arena

Position Summary

As directed by the department lead, this full-time Utility Worker position maintains the general maintenance of the facility, as well as the preparation and tearing down of events.

About The Venue

As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania and home to the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains facility, including painting and general labor.
• Handles preparations for all events, including installation and removal of the dasher board system for hockey, staging, and chairs for concerts and family shows and basketball flooring.
• Snow removal and general maintenance of areas on the outside of the facility, which involves driving a plow truck and forklift, as needed.
• General summer garden detail, including cutting grass with a mower, weeding, and trimming using a motorized trimmer.
• Implements corrective actions and solutions.
• Ensures job assignments are completed on time and meet company standards.
• Follows procedures for use of Work Order and Maintenance Manager Systems.
• Adhere to OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable safety codes.

Qualifications

• Must be available to work between the hours of 10pm and 7am.
• Hours and days will vary based upon our event schedule and will include weekends and may include some holidays.

Education And/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills And Abilities

• Excellent organization skills.
• Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff including management.
• Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends and some holidays, is required.
• Will be required to join the union, upon invitation, following 90-day probationary period.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid Driver's License Preferred.

Physical Demands

• Position requires heavy overhead lifting, push/pull, and carry.
• Requires climbing, bending, stooping, crawling.
• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
• This position requires both indoor and outdoor work and is subject to adverse conditions, including temperatures below 32° F.
