Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges.
- Record meter and gauge readings and operational data.
- Operate belt presses to process and dispose of waste.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, grounds and other work areas.
- Follow the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and State of Florida regulations.
- Ensure safety standards are met.
- Tend to automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment including pumps, engines, mixers, valves, conveyors, and chemical feed.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, including routine preventive maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
- Operate vehicles for plant operational purposes.
- Perform manual labor including filling and emptying of machine bins and cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds as required.
- Monitor process chemical supplies and recommend reorder.
- Perform lab tests applicable to operational optimization and related reports per procedure.
- Operate and tend to various machinery and vehicles.
- Practice good housekeeping in assigned areas and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
- Model compliance with all work practices, policies and procedures.
- Assist in other areas of the plant as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- At least six months experience in a related position and environment preferred.
- Experience with a variety of machinery, vehicles, material handling equipment, hand and power tools preferred.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing (operational, process, safety and quality Instructions).
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Must have the ability to quickly learn how to safely operate specialized machinery for care of roads, grounds, galleries, structures and facilities.
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Must become proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.
- May perform more advanced functions under supervision as part of training and development.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting 25% of the time.
- Standing 25% of the time.
- Walking 50% of the time for as many as five miles per shift.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Communicate orally and in writing.
- Stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Enter confined spaces.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds).
- Close visual observation to detect process non-conformance and machine malfunction.
- Wear PPE including but not limited to safety-toed boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat.
Work Environment
- Spend 100% of the time in an operations environment.
- May need to work outside in inclement weather conditions and drive company vehicles to perform duties.
- Possible Work Hazards: May be exposed to possible operations hazards including fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work environment temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards and electrical equipment.
