Utility Worker at Lodi High School

Perform various custodial, grounds, mechanical, basic electrical, plumbing, and other maintenance and repair activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Methods, equipment and materials used in general maintenance work.
• Methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures.
• Requirements of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
• Cleaning materials, disinfectants and equipment used in custodial work.
• Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
• Operation and use of hand and power tools and equipment.
• Basic record-keeping techniques.

Ability to:

• Perform general maintenance and repair on District furniture, buildings, fixtures and facilities.
• Operate tools and equipment used in general maintenance work.
• Maintain classrooms, offices and other school facilities in a clean, safe and secure condition.
• Move and arrange furniture and equipment for meetings and special events.
• Observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair.
• Perform minor maintenance and repair on furniture, equipment and facilities.
• Meet schedules and time lines.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Observe health and safety regulations.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Maintain routine records related to work performed.

Requirements

Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent and sufficient training and experience to perform the knowledge and abilities listed above.

Required Documents

Special Requirements / Certificates

• Valid California driver's license.
• If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted.
• A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
• The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination. Cost of the exam will be borne by the District.
