Utility Worker

Responsible for performing duties related to production and meeting shipping deadlines in a timely manner. This position also ensures the cleanliness of plant and equipment.

Schedule

Sunday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM, with occasional weekend work required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Operate machinery used in the production process or assist machine operators.
• Place products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting, and wrapping.
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Start machines or equipment to begin production processes.
• Observe equipment operations to detect malfunctions and notify operators, supervisor, or maintenance of any issues.
• Remove products or waste material from machines.
• Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually.
• Transfer finished product and raw material between storage and work areas of the plant by hand or using a forklift.
• Pack and store materials and products.
• Mark and tag products.
• Dump materials into machine hoppers prior to mixing.
• Mix ingredients according to specified procedures or formulas.
• Perform other duties at a lower or higher level of proficiency as needed.
• Know, implement, and delegate FSMS responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Willing and able to frequently stand, walk, bend, crawl, push, pull items, and work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and possible slippery surfaces.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.
• Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

• Work is performed outside in all types of weather.
• Exposed to water and protein by-products.
• Moderate noise levels.
