About the role

We're working with several established heavy civil, highway, and sitework contractors looking for experienced Utility Superintendents. These are Superintendent-level positions for leaders who have managed multiple underground utility crews and foremen. Opportunities range from project-level Superintendent positions to senior roles overseeing utility operations across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple utility crews installing water, sewer, and storm
  • Direct foremen and coordinate field manpower, equipment, and materials
  • Plan daily production and job sequencing
  • Read civil plans, profiles, cut sheets, and utility drawings
  • Coordinate pipe operations with grading, paving, survey, and project management
  • Manage inspections, testing, existing utility conflicts, and changing field conditions
  • Maintain safe production around trenches, excavations, shoring, and heavy equipment
  • Develop foremen and hold field teams accountable for safety, quality, and production

Requirements

  • Proven Utility Superintendent or comparable heavy civil field leadership experience
  • Experience managing multiple crews and foremen
  • Strong background in water, sewer, and/or storm installation
  • Responsibility for production, manpower, equipment, and sequencing
  • Ability to run underground work from layout through testing and closeout
  • Strong understanding of trenching, excavation, and utility safety

Skills

Experience with any of the following is highly valued:

  • Large-diameter or deep utilities
  • NCDOT/SCDOT utility or drainage work
  • Municipal water and sewer systems
  • Turnkey site development
  • Dewatering, bypass pumping, or groundwater control
  • Complex shoring systems
  • Pump/lift stations or treatment infrastructure
  • Managing 30+ field employees or multiple projects
