Overview Seeking a Utility Staker / Line Designer to support electric distribution projects throughout the Middle Tennessee area. This individual will spend the majority of their time in the field collecting information, working with property owners on easements, and supporting line design activities. The role is ideal for someone coming from a staking, line design, GIS mapping, utility locating, or distribution field experience who wants to continue growing on the design side of the utility industry. The position will be approximately 70-80% field work and 20-30% office/computer work. Responsibilities Perform field staking activities for electric distribution projects.Collect field data and support overhead distribution line design efforts.Create and update utility designs directly within ArcGIS/Arc Mapping.Meet with landowners and assist in obtaining easement agreements and signatures.Coordinate with internal design staff and field personnel on project requirements.Utilize GPS equipment and mapping tools to gather accurate field information.Occasionally assist with pole loading and structural analysis efforts using SPIDAcalc.Profile field conditions and support design documentation in AutoCAD when needed.Support ongoing distribution system improvement and expansion projects throughout the service territory.Serve as a professional representative when interacting with customers, property owners, and stakeholders. Required Qualifications Minimum 1-2 years of utility line design, staking, distribution field work, or related experience.Comfortable working outdoors and traveling throughout assigned territory.Experience working with electric utilities, EMCs, cooperatives, or distribution systems.Ability to read and interpret utility construction standards and drawings.Strong communication skills and willingness to interact with property owners regarding easements.Familiarity with GIS platforms and willingness to learn design-related mapping software.Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of utility industry experience.Previous experience as a lineman, apprentice lineman, staker, or line designer.ArcGIS or Arc Mapping experience.Utility mapping experience.Experience with EGPS, Topcon, or similar GPS surveying equipment.Familiarity with AutoCAD.Experience using SPIDAcalc for pole loading analysis.Knowledge of RUS specifications and standards.Previous experience working for an EMC, electric cooperative, or utility consultant.Easement acquisition or right-of-way experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Murfreesboro, TN. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
