About the Role
The Utility Shipper / Receiver is responsible for packaging and shipping all outgoing material and receiving all incoming material. This position may act in a lead or training role and operates with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to established safety procedures and 5S standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) including proper lifting/moving techniques.
- Verify that all materials received match documentation by weighing/counting parts to ensure vendor accuracy.
- Coordinate with appropriate departments to meet shipping and receiving requirements.
- Distribute material or packages to appropriate departments and prepare rejected material for return to vendor.
- Communicate material status to the Purchasing Department.
- Monitor, coordinate, and maintain inventory minimum/maximum levels across all warehouses using the website to confirm skid requirements for daily shipments.
- Work closely with Logistics, Quality Control, and Assembly line Supervisors to coordinate paperwork and reroute parts to different vendors if necessary.
- Provide support in bottleneck areas to keep shipments moving and ensure maximum efficiency.
- Create bills of lading and other clerical documents to verify accurate payment.
- Maintain shipping supply inventory (skids, boxes, pallets, tape, etc.) and prepare orders for submission to Supervisor.
- Coordinate vendor shipping containers by restacking returned quantities and reissuing reusable plastic totes and trays.
- Meet customer demands, ensuring paperwork is turned in on Mondays and Tuesdays for timely shipments.
- Prepare labels for the Hart Center and pull pitman arm and customer schedules/orders.
- Re-skid miters, pack orders, and answer the door to direct truckers with instructions.
- Double-verify orders for accuracy before shipping and take pictures for specific customer shipments.
- Ship all MSO orders alongside regular customer orders and pack orders to customer specifications.
- Unload trucks and apply warning labels to all outgoing shipments.
- Work overtime or stay late to complete customer orders as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise, and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments may involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for noise levels of 85 decibels and above.

Schedule
8-hour Day Shift, Monday through Friday.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- One year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in shipping/receiving within a production/manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize under pressure.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, including Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
- Ability to work overtime as needed, including weekends.
